I am Funmi Brown, the facilitator for the new Fehinty African Theatre Ensemble blog, called Diaspora Voices with Funmi Brown. On a weekly basis, I will be engaging our vast audience/followers with interesting topics peculiar to Africans in diaspora.
The first blog series will be featuring the popular novel “Americanah” written by the award winning writer; Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. She is widely known to be a prolific writer whose career has birthed many books including “Americanah.” Chimmanda has been called “the most prominent” of a “procession of critically acclaimed young anglophone authors that is succeeding in attracting a new generation of readers to African Literature.” Apparently, her most famous book “Americannah” has attracted quite a number of readers and critical acclaim including Chicago Tribune; here is their comment:
“Brimming with lush details, unflinching emotion and wry humor…an absorbing love story but also multi-layered meditation on learning to belong to one’s life. An intricate novel for an intricate process.
Start reading the book today if you are yet to start since my first blog post is coming out soon. We will all participate in discussing interesting topics from the book.
keep calm and read Americanah!
